Greater Boston Neighborhood Noise Report Card
REPORT CARD
Congratulations for being the Quietest Neighborhood in Boston!

Welcome to the Hyde Park and Mattapan report cards! These two neighborhoods lie at the southernmost end of Boston. Both neighborhoods have been described as suburban—urban, meaning that they offer its residents the best of both worlds—chaos free living but still close to the urban center. Mattapan is home to a large number of Boston’s black population—a mix of African Americans and Caribbean immigrants. Mattapan also prides itself with being focused on green, sustainable living and its award winning library (recognized by the American Institute of Architects for its design), which was built on principles of energy performance, water conservation, and sustainability, nicely and succinctly sums up the attitude here.
While there will never be a completely quiet neighborhood (and we are sure that both neighborhoods do have loud areas), overall, both Hyde Park and Mattapan are leading the way in showcasing what a quieter community looks (and sounds) like. We are happy to give these two neighborhoods an A+!
